Case Studies

Here is a small selection of case studies from my practice:

(I will be adding more case studies soon.)

Screaming and Tantrums

A mother, whose son is an existing client, brought her younger daughter in. The child had been getting very "contrary",  throwing violent tantrums when she couldn't get her own way and displaying very sudden mood swings. She had also been waking in the night screaming. After one session the  mother phoned in to thank me. She said, "Another success story. Even I can't believe it. She's been like a different child from the moment we got home. Visitors were saying how much calmer she seems."

Toddler Confidence

The hk system includes a structure of stress elimination called body/brain energy integration corrections. These address fears thought to be set up as a result of something experienced at a very early age, including before or during birth. Eliminating these fears can have a marked effect on behaviour and attitudes, even much later in life; so the sooner they are done the better.

One morning recently I saw a mother who brought her 15 month old daughter with her. During the mother’s session I noticed that the little girl was walking around quite competently, but always carefully keeping at least one hand on something to support herself. If she needed to cross a space where there was no support, she would drop to the floor, shuffle across, and then stand up again. When I remarked on this to the mother, she said that this had been happening for about six weeks, and they had been surprised at the lack of further progress in her walking. Trying to get her to walk between the parents had at best produced a couple of reluctant and uncertain steps.

At the end of the mother’s session, I used her as a surrogate to test if anything could be done to help the girl’s confidence in walking. As a result of this I did one body/brain energy integration correction procedure to address “fear of falling.” The mother simply repeated to herself “Fear of falling” while holding the daughter and I touched the specific set of acupoints for this type of correction. Later the same day the mother phoned to say that at lunchtime her daughter had taken four steps on her own, unprompted and unsupported. She was later said to be “going great guns!”

Migraines

Angela, aged 53, had suffered from severe migraines since she was 12 years old. The attacks consisted of visual disturbances (vivid flashing lights), vomiting, the right side of her face would be numb and her throat would become stiff, making swallowing difficult.

Two months elapsed between the first and second appointment and in that time she had two migraines: far fewer than usual. Since the second appointment (8 months ago) she has had no further migraines.

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity

A.S. had experienced allergic reactions to some chemical substances and many foods since moving house in 1988. She later discovered from a blood test that she was reacting badly to the mercury amalgam fillings in her teeth, (which were subsequently removed). She also suffered high blood pressure and migraines unless she avoided dairy foods. When she came to see me she had been suffering with multiple chemical sensitivities for three years, seemingly after exposure to some paint stripper. She appeared to be particularly sensitive to washing powders, to the extent that just a whiff would make her ill, but almost anything of a “chemical” nature would produce some reaction. In the night she would awaken with her pulse racing, feeling nauseous and needing to get to the bathroom in a hurry.  She put this down to the washing powder and the synthetic fabric in the bedding, but while excluding both of these made some improvement, the problem was still so bad she became afraid to lay down in bed at night. While on holiday with her husband she reacted so badly to perfumes in their hotel that they had to curtail the holiday and return on an earlier flight. She was very distressed about her condition and came to me to see if I could help.

I have seen her six times. After the first session she reported several days of unbroken sleep that seemed to be establishing a new sleeping pattern, then she started waking up again with the same symptoms; in particular the racing pulse was very distressing and worrying for her. After the next session the nausea disappeared, but the tachycardia still woke her at times. After subsequent sessions she improved overall, but with some ups and downs.   In each session we identified and “corrected” areas of stress throughout her life. At no time did we address specific allergens, though we did identify some, including natural fabrics like wool and cotton, which were resolved as a result of the other work. We did correct the stress of actually smelling certain fragrances, including washing powders and liquids. After the sixth session she reported that she had been on a Mediterranean cruise and had no problems. She wrote:

“I was barraged with a cocktail of chemical smells from passengers who were smoking, wearing perfume and hair lacquer etc. The ship was also being painted whenever we docked and periodically it wafted through the corridors. Nevertheless I survived it all and enjoyed an excellent holiday.

“I would like to say thank you for your help with my problem. What a difference being able to sleep again has made to my general well being.”
